As we age, the dermal layer thins, less collagen is produced, the elastin fibres which provide elasticity wear out and all these changes in the scaffolding of the skin cause it to wrinkle and sag. Sebaceous glands get bigger but produce less sebum and the number of sweat glands decrease leading to skin dryness.


GLYCATION also occurs - this is a natural process in our bodies which causes the production of molecules that degrade collagen and elastin in the dermis by making them link together. This causes them to harden and lose elasticity in the the same way that rust weakens and degrades metal  . Glycation is a huge factor in skin wrinkling. 


Glycation progressively contributes to age related connective tissue damage as it affects the mechanical function of the collagen fibres (the load bearing molecules within most tissues).  If the collagen fibres cant support the loads then this leads to "sliding" of collagen molecules occurring. 


Think of it like scaffolding on a building. If the tension and strength of the scaffolding is compromised, if it rusts or weakens, if it becomes unable to bear loads and if theres no flexibility, give or elasticity when tension is applied then the the scaffold will begin to bend, sag, crack and eventually collapse. 


In the simplest terms - our skin loses laxity and texture as we grow older. It becomes loose and sags, lines and wrinkles appear  and, alongside other factors, hyper-pigmentation, discolouration and phot-damage can occur, especially from exposure to the sun and smoking.

At the right distance from the skin, oxygen and nitrogen are mixed and the electrostatic energy produces a flash of plasma which discharges onto the skin. Using our device, our fine screw in probes and pioneering technique: we force immediate contraction of the skin tissue and cause thermal disruption to the "dermal solar elastosis" and "fibroblasts" which stimulates collagen production and neo-collagenisation.
